I don’t like following the rules, but I’ll take a glance…


I’ve decided that I’m going to try this new thing on my blog. I’m going to try to give some recipes for things that I eat on a regular basis or try for the first time. This is mainly for my own personal record, because sometimes I can’t remember something really good that I made, since I rarely follow the directions of recipes.

My mom always taught me that you’ve got to know the rules to break them. I follow this general philosophy in my life life for just about everything, but especially in cooking. I watch Food Network or read recipes online and think…WOW that looks good, but there are too many steps and I am not about that life.Β So, I improvise. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t.

It’s like a science experiment.Β 

Here are some guidelines for a Date Shake that I made after class this morning:

What you need

Dates (3-6)

Almond Milk (1 cup-2 cups)

2 heaping spoonfuls of greek yogurt

1-2 Handfuls of Spinach

A couple frozen strawberries or ice cubes (basically something that will make your smoothie cold)

1/2 of a banana

pinch of pumpkin pie spice



Side note: make sure you chop your dates super fine, otherwise you will get huge-ass chunks of dates at the bottom of your glass.


I call it a shake because it’s super sweet, it almost tricks your body into thinking it’s drinking a shake. Also, it’s quite filling, it’s a meal.
